CHARTER OPTIONS
We work hard to help you enjoy your time in the beautiful Florida Keys and understand that sometimes your preferences don't come from an off-the-rack charter package. With an eye on weather conditions, distance involved, time available and equipment needs, we will discuss your top choices and work with you in selecting one of our standard charters or in custom tailoring a charter package that will be hard to forget.
FISH THE REEFS
Your preference in a sportfishing charter may be geared toward fishing the reefs. And the best part about that is you never know what you might catch. It could be the very popular and flavorful yellowtail, mutton or mangrove snapper. You'll also have a shot at grouper, mackeral, cobia, permit, barracuda and many other species.
Remember that, at the end of your charter, Capt JJ cleans all your fish which you can take to a local restaurant where they will cook your catch for you.
Normally with a choice of targets at different times of the year, anglers will frequently land more than enough to satisfy their dinner crowd.
OFFSHORE EXCURSIONS
Heading into deeper waters for offshore fishing gives you an opportunity to catch the hard fighting dolphin (Mahi), as well as wahoo, tuna, triple tail, sailfish, marlin and others. You can also head out (approximately 25 miles, weather permitting) to one of the seamounts in the area, the best known being the Marathon humps. They rise from a depth of over 1000' to about 500'. They rise from the ocean floor and the current traps bait fish against their leading edge, making it an irresistable spot for predators. It can get crowded there but when the birds and fish are crashing, it can be an exciting time. Some of the best known species found at the humps include dolphin, wahoo, blackfin tuna, amberjack and shark.
LOBSTER DIVING
If you want to free dive for lobster, we can head directly to the bay and catch them in an average of only 7 feet of water. I have been “tickling” spiny lobster out of their holes since I was a kid and can show you the tricks of this fine art. Or if you're already an experienced lobster diver, you can catch your own. I have GPS coordinates of my holes for finding and catching your fill of this tasty crustacean. As a bonus, these holes occasionally have a resident red grouper you may have a chance to spear.
BONUS - Capt JJ's commercial license allows 250 lobster per day for the boat so you are not limited to 6 per person per day.
PRIVATE SNORKELING
If you are strictly interested in snorkeling, booking a private snorkeling charter allows you your own time schedule and gives you the chance to visit several different reef systems including Sombrero Reef. Sombrero is one of the most beautiful reefs in the Florida Keys. It is a Federally protected underwater sanctuary - a "no take zone" where no fishing of any kind is allowed. Due to this protection, Sombrero Reef is teeming with hundreds of species of fish and other marine life and will give you a show like no other.
SUNSET CRUISE
Book a private sunset charter starting with a scenic tour of the famous Boot Key Harbor. Then we'll take Sister's Creek out to the Atlantic Ocean by way of Sombrero Beach and eventually work our way around to the famous seven mile bridge (as seen in photo at left). Relax while you enjoy the unforgettable beauty of a Florida Keys sunset with family, friends or that cherished someone.
Bring your favorite drinks and snacks for an enjoyable cruise watching the incredible sight as the sun sets over the horizon.
TOURING
Touring charters are available for those who just want to explore the incredible Florida Keys from a different point of view.
